Hello one and all! We are adding this column, “What’s up at Shadowridge,” to give you a peek into the eventful lives that your friendly neighborhood Shadowridge Asset Management employees lead outside of the workday, or on the rare occasion, inside of it.
This month, Laura had the opportunity to visit a local Texas women’s prison to participate in the “Truth Be Told” program. This program is designed to help incarcerated women learn to tell their story by way of public speaking, hoping to eventually break the cycle of their incarceration. At this event, Laura served as a Toastmasters speech evaluator. She offered feedback on speech delivery and technique to help the women develop their public speaking skills. Laura says she was honored to take part in the program, and came away from the experience impressed by the openness and courage of the women she met. If you would like to know more about Truth Be Told, information can be found at Truth-be-told.org
Kinley, the newest addition to Shadowridge, is currently readjusting to the Austin life after college. That doesn’t mean she’s gotten a break from studying! She will soon be taking the Series 65 “Uniform Investment Adviser Law Exam” administered by FINRA. This means she is stuffing her head with knowledge on economics, investment vehicles, investment strategies, analysis and ethics. Let’s hope her head stays full through the month of April! When she’s not studying, Kinley is rediscovering her love for breakfast tacos while occasionally walking off the calories around Town Lake with her new labradoodle puppy, Rigby. Ryan has recently widened his musical expertise by taking private piano lessons. No Carnegie Hall performances are scheduled yet, but he is enjoying the challenge of developing a new skill.
